A dust haze engulfed the city skyline on Thursday even as Delhiites continued to reel under hot conditions with minimum temperature climbing to 34.7 degree Celsius, highest in the last 15 years in the month of June.

The dust haze affected movement of vehicular traffic as visibility dropped to 500 metres in some areas of the city.

A Met official said the dust haze has occurred due to an approaching western disturbance and strong dust storm in parts of Rajasthan.

"This is the highest minimum for the month of June in the past 15 years," Met director B P Yadav said.

The last time the minimum temperature soared to such a high was on June 18, 1995 when it touched 34.6 degree Celsius.

The mean temperature for the month of June is 28.3 degrees (minimum) and 39.3 degrees (maximum)  The maximum temperature in the last 24 hours was recorded at 42.8 degree Celsius
