    CISF chief Subodh Kumar Jaiswal appointed CBI director

    Senior IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal was on Tuesday appointed as the new CBI chief for two years, according to a personnel ministry order. A 1985-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Maharashtra cadre, Jaiswal is currently the director-general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

    A Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led three-member selection committee had on Monday shortlisted his name for the post.

    Jaiswal has been appointed as the director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of two years, the ministry order said.

    He has also served as Maharashtra's director general of police in the past.

    Delhi govt puts cap on oxygen cylinder transportation charges

    The Delhi government has capped the charge of transportation of oxygen cylinders, an official order said.

    According to the order, the maximum transportation cost of a B-type oxygen cylinder has been fixed at Rs 50, while for D-type and Jumbo-type, it has been capped at Rs 150 and Rs 250 per unit, respectively.

    US allows Americans with expired passports to return home

    The Biden administration says many American citizens holding recently expired US passports will be allowed to return home from abroad on that document until the end of year.

    Citing delays in passport renewals caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the State Department said certain passports that expired on or after January 1, 2021, will be honored for reentry into the United States until December 31.

    White House: US reaching 50% of adults fully vaccinated

    The White House says the United States on Tuesday will reach 50% of American adults fully vaccinated for COVID-19. President Joe Biden previously set a goal of having 70% of all adults receiving at least one dose of the vaccine by July 4th.

    The White House has ramped up is vaccine distribution, and coronavirus case and deaths have dramatically fallen across the nation.

    There are currently three vaccines in use in the United States. The Biden administration has increased the number of inoculations it is exporting to other nations.

    Gujarat board exam for Class 12 students from July 1

    The state board exam for Class 12 students of both general and science streams will be conducted from July 1 with all COVID-19 protocols in place, the Gujarat government announced on Tuesday. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who chaired a high-level meeting on the issue, took the decision in the larger interest of over 6.83 lakh students, said Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama.

    A detailed exam schedule will be announced in the next few days, an official said.

    MP CM announces unlock from June 1

    Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said the process of unlocking will start in the state from June 1 for which a team of ministers will be formed.

    Chairing a cabinet meeting, Chouhan said, "We will start the process of unlocking in the state from June 1 but Covid testing will also continue so that no Covid-infected person becomes a carrier of the infection."
