    MP: 27-yr-old unvaccinated woman succumbs to COVID-19

    A 27-year-old woman, who had not taken a single dose of vaccine against COVID-19, succumbed to the viral infection at a government hospital in Indore, a health official said on Wednesday. The patient was already suffering from serious ailments related to blood and kidney, the official said.

    Soldier injured in J-K encounter

    An Army jawan was injured in an encounter with terrorists in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Brayihard Kathpora in Kulgam following information about presence of terrorists there, a police official said.

    Over 1,000 Lufthansa flights cancelled as staff strikes

    More than 1,000 Lufthansa flights were cancelled on Wednesday because of a one-day strike by the airline's German ground staff, affecting tens of thousands of passengers in the latest travel turmoil to hit Europe. About 134,000 passengers had to change their travel plans or cancel them altogether. At least 47 connections had already been cancelled on Tuesday, German news agency dpa reported.

    The suspected patient of monkeypox, admitted to the LNJP Hospital here, had travelled abroad about a month ago, sources said on Wednesday. A resident of Ghaziabad, the man had fever and lesions for the last one week while his reports from the National Institute of Virology, Pune are awaited, they said.

    8 students injured as school van overturns in MP

    Eight children were injured after their school van overturned while trying to save a dog in Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur district on Wednesday morning, police said. The accident took place around 7.30 am near a hotel on Anuppur-Amlai road, five km from the district headquarters, Kotwali police station in-charge Amar Verma said.

    SC agrees to hear PIL seeking appointment of chairperson, others in law panel

    The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to consider listing for hearing a 2020 PIL seeking a direction to the Centre to declare the Law Commission as a "statutory body" and appoint the chairperson and members to the panel. A bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana and Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli took note of the submissions of lawyer and petitioner Ashwini Upadhyay with regard to vacancies in the Commission.

    Khadi tricolour hoisted in Meerut by Pt Nehru in 1946 brought out for public display

    A khadi tricolour with an image of a spinning wheel in the centre and hoisted by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in Meerut in November 1946 has been brought out for the first time for public display in Pune. The 9 x 14 feet flag, which is in the custody of the family of Major General (late) Ganpat R Nagar, the then General Officer Commanding of 3rd division of Indian National Army (INA), was displayed at an event in a college in Pimpri Chinchwad area here in Maharashtra for three days from Sunday.

    Unrest prevailed in Bellare and other places in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district after the murder of a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader, who was hacked to death by unidentified motorbike-borne duo. The youth was just about to return home on Tuesday night after closing his poultry shop when he was brutally attacked by the two assailants who were on a bike registered in Kerala.

    Worried over the rise in cyber crimes in Odisha, with fraudsters impersonating senior officers online to raise funds from people, the state government has asked Netizens to exercise caution during all financial transactions. The government issued a statement to say that cyber criminals are using photos of senior bureaucrats on WhatsApp and other messaging platforms on social media, asking people to pay bills.

    A road was blocked in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district following a landslide, the state disaster management department said on Wednesday. The landslide near Nehru Kund in Manali tehsil occurred on Tuesday night, it added.     The Supreme Court will deliver its judgment on a batch of pleas challenging the various provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Wednesday.
