    Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived on a three-day visit to the United States, where he will take part in the Quad Leaders' Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. He will join Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida as Biden hosts the summit in the final weeks of his presidency.

Even today when the BMC team went there, they said that they will remove the encroachment in the next four to five days, so the team has returned. In any situation, it will not be right if someone creates a law and order situation and creates an obstacle. I am sure that they will do the same as they have written to BMC."

    HC asks MCD, police to respond to vendors' plea challenging demolition of vending units

    The Delhi High Court has sought responses from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and police on a plea filed by 45 vendors challenging the demolition of their semi-permanent shops by authorities at a market here. A bench of Justices Vibhu Bakhru and Sachin Datta issued notices to the MCD, the Delhi Police and the Delhi government on the petition and asked them to file their replies within two weeks.

    Fire at furniture market in Central Delhi, no one injured

    A fire broke out at a furniture market in Central Delhi's Nabi Karim area early morning on Saturday, officials said. A call regarding the fire at a shop in the furniture market was received at 3.20 am and seven fire tenders were pressed into service, they said. It took four hours to control the blaze, an official of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said. The officer said no one was injured in the incident but the furniture and other wooden articles were gutted in the fire. The cause of the fire is stated to be the short circuit, he said, adding further probe is underway.

    In a blow to the Pakistan government, the Supreme Court ruled that national or provincial assemblies cannot make prospective or retrospective laws which are against fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution. The observations from Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah come within days after Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq sent a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to retrospectively implement a change made by Parliament in the elections laws to restrict independently elected lawmakers from joining any political party.

    Bihar: FIR lodged against 65 villagers for creating ruckus over death of donkey

    The death of a donkey in Bihar’s Buxar district led to an FIR against 65 villagers, who created a furore by allegedly disrupting electricity supply, taking exception to the animal’s demise due to electrocution, officials said. A police complaint was also lodged by a section of the villagers against some power department officials. The incident took place in Kesath block of the district, when the villagers gathered outside a local power grid station, demanding compensation for the donkey’s death.
