    Delhi: Urdu literary festival Jashn-e-Rekhta returns after three years

    After a hiatus of three years, ‘Jashn-e-Rekhta’, the festival celebrating Urdu and “Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb”, began here on Friday with a stellar lineup of poets, writers, and performers. The 7th edition of Jashn-e-Rekhta was inaugurated by Sanjeev Saraf, founder of Rekhta Foundation, and poet-lyricist Javed Akhtar at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here.     India Accelerator sets up 4 coworking centres in NCR with nearly 1,000 seating capacity

    India Accelerator has set up four new coworking centres, comprising 63,500 square feet area, in Delhi NCR. The co-working centres have a total capacity of 995 seats, India Accelerator (IA) said in a statement. Giving details on these four coworking centres, the company said it has opened a centre in Noida covering 18,000 sq ft area with 280 seats. The other three centres are located in the Gurugram region. It has opened a centre on the Golf Course Extension Road with a capacity of 260 seats and spread across 16,000 square feet.

    Mumbai: BEST to launch double-decker e-buses from Jan 14

    The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) will launch its premium e-bus service this month and roll out double-decker e-buses in January 2023, an official said. The approvals for double-decker e-buses are in the final stages and will be completed soon, BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra told media persons on Friday. At least 10 double-decker e-buses will be rolled out on January 14, 2023 and the fleet will be gradually increased to 50 in the first phase, he said.

    Himachal Pradesh: 3.4 magnitude earthquake jolts Chamba, surrounding districts

     An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 jolted Chamba and its surrounding districts in Himachal Pradesh but no loss of life was reported, an official said on Saturday. The earthquake occurred on Friday night with the epicentre being Dhar Makkan near Tissa area of Chamba district, Special Secretary Disaster Management Sudesh Mokta said.

    Karnataka: Govt announces Rs 15 lakh compensation to kin of woman killed by leopard in Mysuru

    Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the family of a woman, who was killed in a leopard attack in a village in Mysuru district recently. With incidents of leopard attacks in Bengaluru as well as Mysuru being reported recently, Bommai said he has directed the forest department to deploy dedicated teams to catch the big cats straying into urban areas and human settlements.

    A 33-year-old man was arrested on a murder charge in the shooting of rapper Takeoff, who police on Friday said was an “innocent bystander” when he was struck by gunfire outside a Houston bowling alley. Patrick Xavier Clark was taken into custody peacefully Thursday night, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said.     The Group of Seven nations and Australia joined the European Union on Friday in adopting a USD 60-per-barrel price cap on Russian oil, a key step as Western sanctions aim to reorder the global oil market to prevent price spikes and starve President Vladimir Putin of funding for his war in Ukraine. Europe needed to set the discounted price that other nations will pay by Monday, when an EU embargo on Russian oil shipped by sea and a ban on insurance for those supplies take effect. The price cap, which was led by the G-7 wealthy democracies, aims to prevent a sudden loss of Russian oil to the world that could lead to a new surge in energy prices and further fuel inflation.
