A two-day "Sehat camp" held at Rajendra Gymkhana and Mahindra Club (RGMC) in Patiala on April 11 and 12 witnessed strong participation from members, their families and club staff as the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government continues to expand healthcare access through the 'Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana'. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that people across all backgrounds are secure before any medical emergency arises, with a clear focus on accessibility, inclusion, and preventive care.
The camp, which began at 9 am on both days, focused on spreading awareness about preventive health and registering members of the club for Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna. The camp saw enthusiastic participation from club members, many of whom appreciated the initiative and showed keen interest in registering for Sehat cards. Recognising the value of structured and comprehensive healthcare coverage, several members registered themselves along with their families.
Rs 10 lakh coverage boosts public trust
Each Sehat card provides cashless healthcare coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family per year, offering crucial financial protection during medical emergencies. Across Punjab, more than 35 lakh Sehat cards have already been issued, while nearly 50,000 people are registering daily across various districts, reflecting the growing trust in the scheme.
Speaking at the event, Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh said, “Health cards are essential for all. As Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasises, health comes first for everyone, as illness does not differentiate between VIP and common person". Dr Singh added, "Our goal is 100% Sehat card coverage. We’ve grown from 34 lakh to 40 lakh registrations and are moving steadily toward covering every citizen."
Influential participation adds momentum
Member of RGMC and PRTC chairman Harpal Juneja stated, “It is encouraging to see people come forward for their health. Influential members of the club, including vice chancellors, MLAs, IAS officers, renowned doctors, industrialists, and ministers, all appreciated the Sehat Scheme and also came forward to get their health cards made.”
The director of the club, Rahul Mehta said, “We are very pleased with the response. The members of the club, their families, and also the staff members of RGMC participated in the camp with great interest and happily registered for the Sehat Card.” More than 500 people participated and registered for the Sehat card at the two-day RGMC camp. The initiative reinforced the importance of early detection and health security through the Sehat card, benefiting people across different sections of society.
Expanding reach across Punjab
The success of the Sehat Camp at RGMC highlights how accessible and convenient healthcare initiatives can create a meaningful impact on the ground. “Treatment is fully cashless; we’ve paid insurers in advance. Registration is simple, with doorstep delivery, added benefits for Ayushman cardholders, and camps ensuring access in villages, cities, and markets,” Dr Singh said.
To further expand outreach, the Bhagwant Mann government continues to organise enrolment camps daily from 8 am to 4 pm at easily accessible locations such as Gurudwaras, Panchayat Ghar, Temples, and Community Centres, ensuring wider public participation. Earlier this month, a two-day Sehat camp at PRTC Patiala successfully enrolled the transport workforce under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, improving healthcare access for this underserved community.
