Ahmedabad: Parents of a student of JC Prakash High School, Kalupur, have charged a school teacher of beating up their son and making derogatory remark pertaining to his caste. The case has been transferred to SC/ST cell, reports Mirror.
According to the complaint filed by the parents of Maulin Kapadia, his class teacher Harsh Patel thrashed the boy on Saturday because he had not paid fees by due date. The boy went home after school hours but had to be admitted to VS Hospital later in the evening as he reported terrible bodyache. Maulin, 14, is a student of class IX and lives in Patni Sheri in Ghee Kanta.
According to the complaint lodged with Kapupur police, Patel asked Maulin as to why had he not paid fees. “If you people cannot afford fees then why do you come here to study?” Patel allegedly said. When AM contacted Maulin and his parents, the boy said, “On Saturday morning I went to school. The first period was of Harsh Patel sir. He announced that those have not paid their fees yet should pay up as soon as possible.”
During the roll call, Patel specifically told Maulin to pay the fees but did not stop there. “He told me to stand on the bench with my hands up in the air. He made me stand like that for 15 minutes. Later he did the same with the rest of the students who had not paid the fees. Then he came near to me and he tried to hit me, but he could not. So he got angry. He pushed me down holding my collar and slapped me, and beat me up badly.”
Maulin went home after the school hours and went to sleep. Around 6 pm when he woke up his mother asked me him to have snacks. It is then that he broke down. He narrated the story to his mother when she asked him what went wrong.
“I was suffering from terrible bodyache and not feeling well. So my parents brought me to VS Hospital and admitted me here.”
