Despite giving a tough fight to Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) sitting MP from Lucknow Rajnath Singh, Samajwadi Party's Poonam Sinha will most likely face failure in the Lok Sabha polls.

According to the India TV-CNX Exit Poll, Rajnath Singh will repeat his 2014 victory in Lucknow by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Poonam Sinha.

The poll survey has projected a victory for Rajnath Singh in a tough battle with Shatrughan Sinha's wife.

Lucknow has been a BJP bastion since 1991. Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had served as the MP from Lucknow constituency for consecutive five times.

Rajnath Singh was elected as Lucknow's MP in the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Lucknow went to polls on May 6 in the fifth phase of the election, and recorded a voter turnout of 50.48 per cent.
