Pak-backed terrorists may target BRICS summit, warn agencies

Intelligence agencies have warned that Pakistan-backed terrorists are planning to carry out a massive operation in Goa between October 12- 14, ahead of the 8th BRICS summit in the state.

According to a report in India Today, the Pakistan-sponsored terrorists are planning the operation to avenge the ‘surgical strikes’ carried out by Indian Army on terror launch pads based out of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The BRICS summit is scheduled for October 15-16 in Goa and will be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin among other world leaders.

The report says that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval reviewed the security arrangements with senior Navy, Coast Guard officials and other agencies recently.

The officials are also believed to have discussed and analyzed the latest intelligence inputs in this meeting.

The report further adds that the intercepts between handlers across the borders and terrorists holed up in Maharashtra have put the Ministry of Home Affairs on high alert.
