First Cabinet meeting of the newly elected central government took place on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cabinet ministers took charge of their offices before that.

In a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, the government revealed that the Union Budget will be presented on July 5 this year.

In another significant development, the government announced Pradhan Mantri Kisan Pension Yojana. Under this scheme, farmers will get a pension of Rs 3000 per month after 60 years of age.

    Goa ministers congratulate Modi, his team on taking oath

    Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other members of his Cabinet congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his new team on taking oath, marking the beginning of the second successive BJP-led NDA government.

    They also congratulated BJP Member of Parliament from North Goa Shripad Naik over his induction in the second Modi Cabinet, saying it was a proud moment for the coastal state.

    State BJP leaders led by Sawant and coalition partners, including the Goa Forward Party (GFP), participated in the grand swearing-in ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi Thursday evening.

    Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath ceremony was a grand affair.

    "The swearing-in ceremony of PM @narendramodi & his Cabinet was a grand affair," he tweeted.

    Kher also posted a photo and said for him and fellow actor Anil Kapoor the highlight of the event was meeting Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat and Air chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa. "Their energy & handshake is d best security cover any Indian can ask for. Jai Hind," he wrote.

    Kher attended the oath-taking ceremony, with his wife Kirron Kher, who retained the Chandigarh parliamentary seat in the elections.
