At least 10 people were killed and several others sustained injuries after a private bus skided off the road and rolled down a gorge in Himachal Pradesh Saturday evening. The incident was reported from Chamba district of the state, while the bus was on its way from Pathankot in Punjab to Dalhousie in the hill state.
According to Chamba Superintendent of Police Monica Bhutunguru, the accident occurred in the Nainikhad area near Banikhet in Dalhousie subdivision, some 350 km from the state headquarters.
Most of the injured were admitted to Chamba's Regional Hospital.
An eyewitness told the police the driver of the bus probably lost control over the vehicle at a hairpin bend and fell into the gorge.
