As the country grapples with scarcity of cash after demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the government on Monday extended the suspension of vehicle parking charges at all airports till the midnight of November 21.

The move to extend the suspension is expected to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers, Ministry of Civil Aviation said,

"This has been done in order to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers," the ministry said in a statement.

"We heard you! To facilitate smooth movement, collection of parking charges at all airports suspended till midnight of 21 Nov," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said in a tweet.

Earlier on Monday, the government had extended the suspension of the fee collection at all the toll plazas on National Highways till November 18.

Even the Indian Railways has said that it will accept the demonetised currency notes as payment for ticketing and catering purposes till November 24.
