Alert over 3 suspected Pak terrorists on the move; Delhi, Mumbai and Goa likely targets

Three suspected Pakistani militants in a grey Maruti Swift Desire possibly travelling with explosives and a suicide belt could target Delhi, Mumbai and Goa, the Punjab police has said citing an alert by the Special Cell of the Delhi police.

New Delhi: Three suspected Pakistani militants in a grey Maruti Swift Desire possibly travelling with explosives and a suicide belt could target Delhi, Mumbai and Goa, the Punjab police has said citing an alert by the Special Cell of the Delhi police.

The Punjab police alert states that the terrorists are on the move in a grey Swift Desire with the license plate JK-01 AB-2654. Police are now on the lookout for the vehicle.

“An input has been  received from Special Cell, Delhi police that a grey coloured Swift Desire car no.  JK-01 AB-2654 is carrying three  Pakistani militants and a  local. The Pakistani militants have  sufficient arms, ammunition and  possibly suicide  belt,” the official said.

“The vehicle is likely to cross Banihal Tunnel later in the night today. Their target could be in Delhi, Goa and Mumbai,” the alert said.

Police personnel across states have been alerted to set up strict vigilance and check points. Security has also been stepped up at all important public places including, markets, malls, stations and defence establishments installations following the alert.

The alert follows a similar warning issued by the Centre recently of four armed militants having made their way into India through Kashmir. The earlier alert also said that the terrorists could have Maharashtra, Goa and Delhi.

In March this year, Pakistan’s National Security Advisor Naseer Khan Jhanjua had informed India that 10 militants had crossed into the Indian territory and were looking to target people on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.

Security agencies have been on high alert since the attack on the Pathankot air base in January this year. Militants had allegedly hijacked two cars to travel from the border to the air base.
