According to the Vedic Panchang, the Shravan Shukla Panchami tithi begins at 4:51 pm on August 16 and remains in effect until 5 pm on August 17. Based on the Udaya Tithi, or the tithi prevailing at sunrise, the festival will be observed on August 17.

Nag Panchami 2026 remedies
Several traditional practices are associated with Nag Panchami. According to religious beliefs, devotees can follow these rituals and remedies:
- Perform an abhishekam of Lord Shiva with water, milk and Gangajal, and chant "Om Namah Shivaya".
- Offer turmeric, kumkum, akshat, white flowers and raw milk to an idol or image of Nag Devta and perform the puja with devotion.
- Chant "Om Sarpebhyo Namah" or "Om Nagdevtaya Namah" 108 times, which is considered auspicious.
- For those who believe they have Kaal Sarp Dosha or problems associated with Rahu and Ketu in their horoscope, there is also a tradition of offering a silver serpent to the Shivling on Nag Panchami.
- Donate food grains, clothes or money to poor and needy people. Charity and acts of giving are considered particularly beneficial on this day.
