Anantnag gunfight Day 6: As the gunfight and search operation entered the sixth day, the security forces recovered the charred body of a terrorist from the Kokernag area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The search operation is ongoing in the area.
After the recovery of a charred body from the hideout, it is likely that DNA samples will be taken from the family members of Uzair Khan, who is associated with the LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) or TRF (The Resistance Front), today.
Encounter continues for sixth day
The search operation restarted in the area early on Monday morning and a combined operation is set to take place in order to search for the possibility of more bodies in the area.
The encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district is ongoing as the search for two hiding militants continues in the Kokernag area. The security forces have cordoned off the entire region and are tracking each and every movement of the two terrorists who are yet to be neutralised. Top police officials said that terrorists have been encircled at one area near the natural cave-turned-hideout.
In a tragic incident, the officers Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat and a soldier were killed by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists on September 13.
