President Election 2022: Anupam Kher declares Droupadi Murmu as the next President of India

President Election 2022: Anupam Kher declared Droupadi Murmu as the next President of India. The BJP-led NDA candidate appeared to be ahead of the Opposition's Yashwant Sinha. The counting of votes will be held on July 21.

President Election 2022: Voting to choose the next President of India is underway amid claims of cross-voting to favour Droupadi Murmu. The BJP-led NDA's candidate appeared to be ahead of Opposition's Yashwant Sinha even before the polls. While many predicted that Droupadi may win by maximum votes, Bollywood veteran actor Anupam Kher has declared her win. Taking to Twitter, the actor wrote, "For the past few days a sentence has been echoing in my mind again and again. Thought I'd write it today! “I Citizen of India humbly declare #DraupadiMurmu ji the President of India” Jai Hind! "

Parliamentarians, lawmakers and legislators across the country voted to elect the next President and by the time voting concluded, there were enough indications that Murmu was set to win against Sinha. Among those who cross-voted in the Presidential Election so far are NCP MLA Kandhal S Jadeja, Odisha Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim and also a Samajwadi Party leader, according to reports.

Earlier, Maharashtra BJP leader Ashish Shelar expressed confidence in Droupadi Murmu and said "NDA's Presidential Candidate Droupadi Murmu's win is certain. Meanwhile, the counting of votes will be held on July 21 and the new President will take oath on July 25, under the schedule announced by the Election Commission.

Anupam Kher's upcoming Projects

In his almost four decade long career, Kher, a National School of Drama (NSD) graduate, has appeared in Hindi films such as "Ram Lakhan", "Lamhe", "Khel", "Darr", "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge", "Daddy", "Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara", "Vijay", "A Wednesday" and "M S Dhoni: The Untold Story." Some of his international projects include movies such as "Bend It Like Beckham", "Bride and Prejudice", "Silver Linings Playbook", "The Big Sick" and "The Boy With The Topknot". He has also starred in series "Sense 8" and "New Amsterdam". 

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kher wrapped the shoot of the film 'Uunchai' alongside veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani and Neena Gupta. He was last seen in 'The Kashmir Files' starring Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumaar in key roles. The which was released on March 11, 2022, became the first post-pandemic Hindi film to break the $300 million milestone at the box office.
