New Delhi: The Bhojpuri siren Antara Biswas who changed her name to Monalisa has also made it big in Bollywood's B-grade movies and Southern cinema.
Born to a Bengali Hindu family, Antara adopted the stage name of Monalisa at the behest of her uncle.
She started her career as a small-time TV actress and model in Oriya albums.
Monalisa made her Bollywood debut with 'Blackmail' starring Ajay Devgn and Suniel Shetty.
After some item numbers and small roles in a string of Hindi projects 'Ab Bas', ‘Tauba Tauba', ‘Jalwa' and ‘Blackmail', Monalisa finally bagged the title role in the sleaze film ‘Bobby' that released last year.
According to a leading daily The Hindu, Mona Lisa (along with Rinku Ghosh) was the most sought after actress in the Bhojpuri film industry.
The actress has bagged other flicks namely ' Love Guru', ‘Meri Life Mein Uski Wife' by Partho Ghosh, who had directed ‘Agnisakshi'.
