New Delhi, Jan 13: The OST of Guwahati International Short Film Festival (GISFF) sung by a band from Nagaland has been ranked among the Top 50 international music videos of 2011 by US channel VH1.

“Painted Dreams” by Alobo Naga & The Band also featured at number four in VH1's International Top 10 Chart Busters, a list which had the likes of Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera and Pitbull.

The video was conceptualised and produced by Creovaent Productions of Guwahati and directed by its owners Prithish and Puja Chakraborty.

“GISFF is the first film festival in the world to make an official OST (official soundtrack) and promote it in such a manner. We wanted a simple concept keeping in mind our festival theme of 2011 ‘Dreams' and also keeping the band (Alobo Naga & The Band) music genre in mind. So Puja did the rest and came out with a beautiful concept,” Prithish told PTI.

“We wanted a concept that would show the aim of the short film festival as well as go well with the rock band and so after listening the song for nearly a 100 times, a concept was finally born,” says Puja.

The band is excited as ever.

“...Growing up listening and admiring big guns like Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, RCHP and Pitbull and finally to be on the same list with is like oh my god and thank you lord...because this is every musician's dream... But we are humbled and more determined now to work harder because we have to live up to people's expectations,” it said.

The band has started its “Painted Dreams Tour” and visited few cities like Noida, Gurgaon, Kolkata and Hyderabad.  “...And still hungry and waiting for our next stop to rock and meet new people. We are planning to visit as much places as we can and spread and promote our music,” the group says.

The band has also composed and sung the title song of upcoming Bollywood film “Beyond”.  According to Prithish, the video opened many avenues for the debut directors and also for their production house.

“Now expectations from people are more and in our coming music videos the quality and content will be much higher. Lots of projects are coming up from our side like our debut short feature film to be shot during March, our second documentary and our feature film project by the end of 2012,” he says.

Both Prithish and Puja wanted the music, lyrics, language and concept to be universal so that “anyone in the world can connect to the music easily and also help us to make our festival popular”.

The shooting was done in Guwahati.

“We took two days for the shoot and post production work was done in another two days. So in four days we finished the entire music video,” says Prithish.
