Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale on life support as his condition worsens

Vikram Gokhale, who has been hospitalised for fifteen days, sees no progress and his condition deteriorates.

Renowned veteran actor Vikram Gokhale has been receiving treatment at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune for the past 15 days. However, it seems the actor is not seeing any improvement and his condition is deteriorating. According to ANI, his condition is critical. However, the doctors have firmly refused to provide any other details regarding the veteran actor's health, saying that his family will provide an update. 

Vikram Gokhale has contributed significantly to Indian cinema. The actor has starred in several films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan, Bang Bang, Hichki, Mission Mangal and others. 

For the unversed, the veteran actor is the son of Chandrakant Gokhale, a Marathi theatrical performer and movie actor. In addition to acting, he has ventured in directing. In 2010, he made his directing debut with the Marathi movie Aaghaat. He has won a number of honours. For his acting in theatre, he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2011. For his Marathi film Anumati, he took home the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2013. He is also a social activist.

Earlier, in an interview with The Times of India, the actor discussed his struggles and how Amitabh Bachchan helped him through them. He said, "I went through a lot of struggle when I entered this Industry. I was going through a huge financial crunch and was looking for shelter in Mumbai. When Amitabh Bachchan came to know about this, he personally wrote a letter to Manohar Joshi, who was a Chief Minister of Maharashtra during 1995-99. And I got a house from the government only because of his recommendation. I still have that letter with me which I have framed it."

"I am so proud that he knows me and I know him. We are friends from the last 55 years. I just love his attitude and nature. I still watch his films once a week and I am doing this from the past several years," he signs off.
