Aishwarya Rai and Amitabh Bachchan to share screen space in Mani Ratnam’s next period drama

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the biggest superstar in the country, Amitabh Bachchan, are all set to reunite on the big screen in filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s next Bollywood film which will be a period drama. The duo was last seen together in Sarkar Raj, 11 years go. If reports are to be believed then Aishwarya has already given her nod for the film while Amitabh Bachchan is still in talks with Mani Ratnam. The film said to be an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel Ponniyin Selvan (The Son of Ponni).

According to the reports in DNA , a source has revealed, “It’s a big-budget historical drama, which is being planned on the lines of the Baahubali franchise. It’s likely to be a bilingual project and star several other big names from the South Indian film industry. Mani approached his muse Aishwarya for the female lead and she signed on the dotted line." Talking about Big B, the source added, "Mani has narrated the script to Amitji. He is taking his time to decide whether he would like to do it. A confirmation from his end is yet to come but he has liked the idea."

It is also being said that the makers of the film will be making an announcement about the project around Pongal on January 14. Talking about the film, it is said that the five-volume tome narrates the story of Arulmozhivarman, who was crowned as Rajaraja Chola I during the 10th and 11th century.

Recently, Aishwarya went on record to talk about various aspects of her personal and professional life and as much as she talked about her career in Bollywood, the blue-eyed diva revealed the things on which she and husband Abhishek Bachchan argue a lot. Revealing interesting details about her married life, Aishwarya said that both, she and husband Abhishek are two strong personalities and the opinions are bound to collide at times.

Talking to Filmfare about her life, Aishwarya revealed, “We’re both genetically very generously been given very strong genes. So, we’re inherently very strong personalities. I think there is a very fine line between arguing and discussing and that’s something we’re still arriving at discovering what is what. So, we discuss a lot, either politely put it as discuss, probably argue but…”
