A case has been filed against director Rakesh Roshan and his son, Hrithik, for non-payment of Rs 10 crore to a company providing film equipment, reports Mid Day.

Shah Production, suppliers of equipment to film sets, has filed a case against Rakesh Roshan and his company, Filmkraft, for deferring payments of Rs 10 crore. The equipment worth Rs 30 crore, the complainant has alleged, had been rented to the Roshans for the shoot of the film.

"While Rs 20 crore has been paid, Filmkraft has been deferring payment of the balance of Rs 10 crore for the last two years," said Shah Production's lawyer, Manoj Sheoran.

The complainant had approached Home Minister R R Patil, who in turn directed the matter to DCP (Zone IX) K M M Prasanna to investigate the matter. As Prasanna is on leave, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nisar Tamboli is investigating the matter.

Tamboli told MiD DAY that the matter was being investigated after a complaint was received yesterday evening. He, however, refused to divulge further details of the investigation.

The Roshans had been embroiled in a similar controversy when actress Priyanka Chopra's former secretary, Prakash Jaju, had filed a petition during the release of Hrithik-starrer Krrish which was produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan.

When Mid Day contacted Rakesh Roshan about the allegation, he refuted the same. "It's baseless," said  Roshan.  "It is merely a publicity stunt on their part."

Sheoran claimed that when the production's officials went to the Filmkraft's office to collect the dues, they were pushed out of the office. Firm files case for non-payment of dues after Roshans hired film equipment for their home production Kites but failed to pay up rent The Roshans' yet-to-be-released film, Kites, is courting controversy even before its release.
