This is a remark which only Salman Khan could have made. The Bollywood star recently invited his personal bodyguard Shera to unveil the first theatrical promo of his upcoming biggie, Bodyguard, in Mumbai on Thursday.

Shera, who has been Salman's personal bodyguard for the last 15 years, was offered the work of unveiling the promotional look of the film by Salman's brother-in- law Atul Agnihotri, who has produced the film, at the insistence of Salman.

The film's heroine Kareena Kapoor was present at the event.

“ We ( Shera and I) share a special bond and have been together since the last 15 years. He has been a shielding force and has protected me in all situations,” Salman said.

“ I trust him with everything — money, my possessions and even my women,” joked Salman.

Shera, dressed in a black suit, was overwhelmed by Salman's gesture.

“ Salman bhai is the real-life bodyguard. He has always guarded me and my family and has been very supportive,” he said. “ If need be, I would happily take a bullet for Salman,” he added.

The film, which is scheduled to release in August 31, is this year's big Eid release.

Over the past couple of years, Salman has been superstitious about Eid, with Wanted in 2009 and Dabangg last year opening on the auspicious festival and turning out to be blockbusters.

Bodyguard is a remake of a Malayalam superhit film of the same name that released last year. Salman and Kareena reprise the roles of Dileep and Nayanthara from the Malayalam film.

The Hindi film marked the Bollywood directorial debut of Siddiqui, who also made the original.

The film is an action romantic comedy that has Salman essaying the role of a bodyguard who is employed to protect Kareena, daughter of a powerful politician.

Salman said he took tips for his role from several aspects of Shera's life. “ There are many things about the life of a bodyguard that I have learnt from Shera. I observed him to get into character. I have learnt everything about loyalty and sincerity from him,” said the actor.

Kareena Kapoor, who was dressed demurely in an off- white churidar and anarkali kurti at the do was impressed by Salman's gesture.

“ I am glad that such a genuine and loving star is my Bodyguard , ” she said.Salman pitched in and said: “ I am taking my role very seriously and people should think before getting near Kareena because I am her official bodyguard these days.”
