Was very emotional when Karan Johar asked me to take Sridevi’s role in Kalank, says Madhuri Dixit

Veteran Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, who has been basking in the success of her latest release Total Dhamaal opposite Anil Kapoor, will be seen next in Kalank.  For the uninitiated Sridevi was the first choice to be casted in Karan Johar’s Kalank. The actress was to begin the shoot for the film but her sudden demise took her away from us. On February 24, the actress died a shocking death by drowning accidentally in her bathtub. However, as they say, the show must go on. After a lot of discussions, the makers decided to rope in Madhuri Dixit to play the role for which Sridevi was finalised.

Talking about the same Madhuri Dixit in an interview to DNA said, “When I was on the sets, I looked at it as just another role. But, yes, I was extremely emotional when Karan (Johar) asked me to take up her role. I hope I make her proud.”

Meanwhile, the actress also expressed grief on Sridevi ‘s first death anniversary recently and said, “We had known each other for many years and shared a warm equation. It was difficult for everyone in the industry to wrap their heads around her sudden loss. It is still hard to accept the truth. I don’t think anyone of us has still come to terms with her absence. We will always feel the void.”

Abhishek Verma directorial Kalank is slated to release on April 19, 2019. It is a multi-starrer film with an ensemble star cast of Varun, Alia, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit Nene.
