Total Dhamaal Box Office Collection Day 1: Madhur Dixit, Anil Kapoor starrer earns Rs 16.50 crore
Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffrey starrer Total Dhamaal released on February 22. Total Dhamaal is the third film in the comedy franchise Dhamaal. The comedy film is helmed by Indra Kumar. Interestingly, one of the most popular silver screen pairs of the 90s, Madhuri and Anil have reunited after 19 years for Indra Kumar's adventure comedy.
Madhuri and Anil have also teamed up with Kumar for the iconic hit "Beta" in 1992. Anil said: "We've teamed up in so many movies that we could tell each other's responses on camera without any discussion. I am very comfortable working with Madhuri. The last time we came together in a film was for Rajkumar Santoshi's 'Lajja' in 2001 and now she is back, looking just as beautiful as she did back then."
Sharing the opening day collection of Total Dhamaal, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, ‘’#TotalDhamaal - non-holiday release - creates dhamaal on Day 1... Biz multiplies as day progresses... Mass circuits rocking... Metros/plexes witness upward trend... Biz should grow on Day 2 and contribute to a big total over the weekend... Fri ₹ 16.50 cr. The story of the film doesn't bring anything new on the table and rather follows the same notes of Dhamaal. Similar to its first edition, Total Dhamaal has five pairs of cartoonish characters - conmen Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Mishra, a Gujju-Marathi couple played by Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, two firemen Riteish Deshmukh and Pitobash, fun jodi of Adi-Maanav played by Arshad Warsi and Javed Jafferi respectively, and police commissioner Boman Irani with inspector Vijay Patkar.
All these five pairs are on a run to find the hidden secret treasure of Rs. 50 crore in a zoo in a place called Janakpur. The film tries to bring out humour in the life-threatening situations for these characters.
