Student of the Year 2 (SOTY 2), starring Tiger Shroff and debutants Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria has crossed Rs 38 crore mark in three days at the box office. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has earned Rs 38.83 crore till now. SOTY 2 was released on May 10. Despite receiving a barrage of criticism for its content, the film earned Rs 12.06 crore on its opening day, Rs 14.02 crore on Day 2.However, SOTY 2 may witnessed a decline on its Day 3 collections due to IPL final.
"#StudentOfTheYear2 saw limited growth on Day 2, while the sixth phase of polling [cinemas were shut till evening] + #IPL2019Final [evening onwards] affected its biz on Day 3... Fri 12.06 cr, Sat 14.02 cr, Sun 12.75 cr. Total: ₹ 38.83 cr. India biz. #SOTY2".
Furthermore, Taran Adarsh said, "#StudentOfTheYear2 has a decent weekend, but when compared to Tiger Shroff’s earlier releases [data follows], the numbers should’ve been higher than #Baaghi  at least... #SOTY2 has an important task ahead: It needs to maintain the pace on weekdays".
Student Of The Year 2 marks the Bollywood debuts of Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday, who play Tiger Shroff's fellow students in the college love triangle. Ahead of the film's release, Tiger Shroff had told the audiences what to expect from the college rom-com and said: "We are not trying to be role models, we are just trying to provide them a moment of happiness and joy to get away from stress. It's a film for the youth. It's an entertainment experience for everyone. Come have fun, don't bring your thinking caps."

Directed by Punit Malhotra, Student Of The Year 2 is a sequel of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra's first film. Student Of The Year 2 also has a cameo by Alia Bhatt in a special song appearance.
