Actress Juhi Chawla, who was the leading lady in superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s 1993 hit movie ‘Darr’, says that it was not possible to make the sequel of the film. She made this comment while YRF is getting ready to launch the web reboot of the movie.
Filmmakers Yash Raj’s ‘Darr: The Voilent Love Story’ was a physiological thriller. It revolved around an obsessive lover Rahul who created trouble in the paradise of Kiran and Sunil (Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol).
But the web version of Darr, i.e. Darr 2.0 is the modern and unique tale of obsession and fear in the age of cyber stalking and digital crimes. It features three characters in entirely different circumstances.
When Juhi was questioned about this she said ‘Darr 2.0’ is not a sequel of the original film. The actress added that films like Darr could not be remade but people can take inspiration to make something similar.
The web series of Darr will reportedly be made into five parts. It will throw a light on the unsafe environment of online privacy invasion and social media harassment that can take a dangerous and disturbing turn, if unchecked.
The series is direcerd by Vikas Chandra, who was the associate creative producer with Yash Raj Films during the making of Sushant Singh Rajput starrer ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’.
What are your thoughts about Darr 2.0? Will it be able to create the magic that Shah Rukh Khan starrer did in the 1990’s? Tell us all in the comments box below.
