Aamir Khan’s home production venture Secret Superstar released on Thursday coinciding with Indian festival Diwali. The film is all about a teenage Muslim girl Insiya who aspires to become the biggest singer of India. Her dreams are backed by her mother Najma, who’s a victim of domestic abuse in the hands of her husband. In the household, where girls are not allowed to dream big, Insiya struggles to achieve her goals and buy freedom for her mother. The film started with a slow opening on Thursday, but the box office numbers went up over the weekend.
On its opening it earned Rs. 4.80 crore. The numbers doubled themselves on Friday and on Saturday, Aamir Khan and Zaira Wasim’s film earned Rs. 8.65 crore, making the total to Rs. 22.75 crores. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the box office collection of Secret Superstar.
Secret Superstar released on 19th October on Thursday, coinciding with Diwali. Aamir Khan released the film on a day before Friday, possibly to avert the clash with Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again.
