Salman Khan receives Global Diversity Award at Britain's House of Commons, feels ''honoured''

The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor is in Britain after a decade for his Da-Bangg Tour.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has joined the bandwagon of Indian celebrities who have received Global Diversity Award at Britain's House of Commons. After Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman was honoured with the award by Keith Vaz, British Parliament's longest-serving Asian MP. The 51-year-old actor got this award for his contribution as an actor and philanthropist.

"The Global Diversity Award is given to people of immense stature in terms of what they have done for diversity in the world, and he is certainly one of them," Vaz said. He praised Salman for being "not just a megastar for Indian and world cinema, but also someone who has done so much for humanitarian causes". Vaz said that besides his work as an actor, Salman has done a lot in supporting underprivileged section of India through his NGO Being Human. The MP said that he feels honoured to present the award to him.

Salman, who looked dapper at the event said: "Thank you for the respect and honour you have given me. My father would have never thought... But the amount of respect you guys have given me, thank you so much for it." The actor took to his micro blogging account to tweet the pictures.

On a related note, Chinese action star Jackie Chan, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton are previous recipients of the award. Meanwhile, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor is in Britain after a decade for his Da-Bangg Tour. The tour is scheduled to take place in Birmingham today and in London's O2 Arena on Sunday.  Bollywood actressSonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Choreographer turned director Prabhudheva, actor Sooraj Pancholi and rapper Badshah are also part of the ambitious tour.
