Qarib Qarib Single", which is being appreciated as a breezy romantic comedy, raked in Rs 1.75 crore on its opening day, the makers have said. Directed by Tanuja Chandra, the film is witnessing a strong word-of-mouth creating a power-packed impact on the masses, said a statement on behalf of the makers. It brings to celluloid a fresh pairing of National Award-winning actor Irrfan Khan and Malayalam actress Parvathy, who has made her Bollywood debut with this film on new age online dating.
Presented by Zee Studios and produced by Jar Pictures, the film is shot across real locations of Bikaner, Rishikesh and Gangtok.
Qarib Qarib Singlle showcases the journey of two adults who discover themselves. It is a contemporary love story of two people who embark upon an unusual journey which becomes a mad adventure.
Speaking about the film, Irrfan Khan said, “”"I'd like to quote what my character sings for Parvathy in the film, 'Bade acche lagte hain ye dharti, yeh nadiya aur tum', meaning 'I really like the earth, the rivers and you'. Working with her was a great experience -- just like the journey our characters go through in our film," Irrfan said in a statement.
"It's a desi tale with loads of humour. It's a meeting of north and south India and I think that the audience will find it very endearing and refreshing," added the actor, who has collaborated with FilterCopy, the shareable content brand of Pocket Aces, for a new video titled "Types Of Men You Meet On A Date".
