J P Dutta is back with his latest offering, Paltan which is an addition to his war-based films like LOC and Border. Written and directed by Dutta himself, the filmmaker does what he is best known for. Paltan has Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane, Luv Sinha and Siddhanth Kapoor in pivotal roles.

Based on the 1967 Nathula Pass standoff, Paltan follows events that occurred after the 1962 Indo-China war. In 1967, Indian soldiers guarded Nathula in Sikkim from China and the trailer is a compilation of action scenes revealing incidents that happened during that year.

It seems that Dutta has attempted to recreate the magic of Border. Check out the trailer below:

Paltan also has Esha Gupta, Sonal Chauhan, Dipika Kakar, Monica Gill but they are confined to stereotypical roles of shedding tears and praying for their dear ones.

Besides action scenes, the trailer doesn't reveal much about the movie. It gets a bit melodramatic and over-the-top in some scenes. Chest-thumping patriotism also forms an important component of the trailer. Above all, the most amusing thing is Chinese soldiers speaking Hindi as fluent as the star cast. Though Dutta tries hard, the trailer fails to bring something new and exciting. However, we hope that the movie keeps us glued. Patlan is slated to release on 7th September.
