    Karni Sena threatens to gouge Javed Akhtar’s eyes out post his ghoonghat remarks

    Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar has received threatening from the organization called Karni Sena after he asked the government to ban ghoonghat alongside the ban on burkha. The Karni Sena aren’t impressed with Akhtar’s comments regarding the whole burkha ban controversy and have asked the lyricist to apologize. 

    Jivan Singh Solanki, Karni Sena Maharashtra wing president, told TOI, "We have asked Akhtar to render an apology within three days or face the consequences. In a video recording sent to the leading daily, Solanki says, "We will gouge out your eyes and pull out your tongue if you don't apologise. We will enter your house and beat you." He has also been quoted as saying, "The burqa is associated with terrorism and (is a question of) national security. We have asked Akhtar to render an apology within three days or face the consequences."

    Akshay Kumar's eligibility for National Award questioned on social media

    Akshay Kumar, who said he has Canadian citizenship, was questioned on social media about winning the National Award. However, filmmaker Rahul Dholakia supported the actor and said that "foreign nationals can get National Awards" On Saturday, several social media users including National award-winning film editor and writer Apurva Asrani questioned Akshay on being a National Award-winner. 

    Asrani tweeted: "Are Canadian citizens eligible for India's National Awards? The year (2016) Akshay Kumar won 'Best Actor', we were expecting Manoj Bajpayee to win for 'Aligarh'. If the jury/ministry has made an error in Kumar's case, will there be a revote."

    Randhir Kapoor on selling RK Studios: My father believed in moving on with time, the show must go on

    Talking about how the massive fire in 2017 had gutted down everything of importance there, Randhir Kapoor told Times of India in a report, “We sold the property about six-seven months ago. It was a decision that we had taken and it was only a matter of time before we would execute things. It was becoming difficult to manage it, although we did everything for its upkeep.”

    Sharing his father Raj Kapoor’s belief in life, he added, “My father believed in moving on with time; he always said that the show must go on, come what may. That is exactly what we did when it came to RK Studios. We all have an emotional attachment with what our father had built for us, but this was the need of the hour. The property was in good hands in the past and it continues to be in good hands even now. My best wishes are with the new owners. I hope they will respect the legacy of the land that they have bought from us.”

    South actor Sudeep joins Salman Khan on Dabangg 3 sets, thanks him for warm welcome

    South Indian actor Sudeep joined Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on the sets of their upcoming film Dabangg 3. While Salman Khan was already shooting for teh film, Sudeep has just joined the cast and is all set to play the villain. Sharing a picture on his social media, Sudeep wrote, "Heat was unbearable yet couldn't dominate the energy on set,,,, it was a thrilling day,, fabulous unit,, fantabulous people,,,,, a humongous Gym set up on Location is an added bonus. 1st day of #Dabangg3 wrappes wth smiles. Thanks @BeingSalmanKhan sir for making me feel at home."

    Rumours are rife that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to star in filmmaker Farah Khan's next film. While the actor has given no comments on the same, Farah Khan told IANS, "I love Shah Rukh. I love working with him. But as of now we first want to do the dialogue draft and everything and then go on to the next step." Talking about the development on the upcoming musical actioner with Rohit Shetty, Farah said, "We have finished most of the scripting and have a month more to go and then we will start casting."
