Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani will share the screen space for the first time in Raj Mehta's Good News. However, in the movie, they are not paired opposite each other. While Akshay is cast opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara's on-screen partner is Diljit Dosanjh. But, Kiara and Akshay have signed a film in which they will be seen romancing each other.
Akshay will be seen in Bollywood remake of Tamil drama Kanchana, which has been tentatively titled Laxmi. While Akki and Kiara will be the leads, R Madhavan also has an important role to play. The film will go on floors by the second half of April.
Talking about the project, a source close to the development told Mid-Day, ''While Akshay plays the protagonist who gets possessed by the spirit of a transgender, Kiara will portray the superstar's girlfriend in the movie. Although the female lead did not have a significant role in the original version, Kiara will enjoy a substantial part in the adaptation. The script too has been tweaked to suit the sensibilities of the Hindi film audience."
The movie will be directed by Raghava Lawrence who has also helmed the original. Kanchana, which released in 2011 had Sarathkumar in lead role along with Raghava Lawrence, Lakshmi Rai, Kovai Sarala, Devadarshini and Sriman in important characters.
Meanwhile, Akshay and Kiara along with their co-stars announced wrap and release date of Good News with a quirky video. Akshay shared a clip on Instagram in which he along with Kareena, Kiara and Diljit are lip syncing siren sound. The Kesari actor captioned the video, ''Practicing the sound of #GoodNews arriving until then it’s a wrap Due date 6th September 2019!''
