Day 3 collection: SRK’s action-crime thriller ‘Raees’ crosses Rs 50 crore mark

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s latest flick ‘Raees’ has minted over Rs 50 crore in just three days of its release. The action-crime drama has pocketed Rs 59.83 crore at the box office till Friday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Alone on Friday, the film raked in Rs 13.11 crore. The film, which had hit the silver screens on January 25 (Wednesday), has also become the highest Republic Day grosser till date. The film had done a business of Rs 26.30 crore on January 26.

The SRK starrer has been faring exceptionally well at the overseas box office too. Till Friday, the film has grossed Rs 9.60 crore in the gulf market, Rs 3 crore in UK, Rs 2.50 crore in Australia and Rs 2.60 crore in America. In all, the film now stands with the total collections of Rs 17.70 crore at the overseas box office.

Despite being in competition with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, the movie is doing great at the box office. Raees received mixed reviews by the film critics, but it seems like the reviews have not affected SRK fans much.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees is set in the backdrop of Gujarat in the 80s and also marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. While Shah Rukh is seen portraying the character of a wicked bootlegger Raees Alam, Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of a cop whose sole motive is to put him behind the bars.
