After Gold, Akshay Kumar to play warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan in Yash Raj Films?

A source said, ''This film will showcase Akshay as a warrior and also narrate the epic love story of Prithviraj and Sanyukta.''

Akshay Kumar who was recently seen spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene through his film PadMan, will next be seen in Yash Raj Films' next project. The yet-to-be titled film is said to be produced by Aditya Chopra. As per the sources, it will be a period drama and Akshay will essay warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan in the film. The source further revealed that the Pinjar director Chandraprakash Dwivedi will direct Akshay’s film. 

As per the reports of DNA, “The film will be mounted on a huge scale. The team will also recreate the 12th century for it. Chandraprakash has been planning to make a movie on Prithviraj Chauhan for the last two-and-a-half years now. Akshay has been his only choice for the role. Aditya loved his storytelling and decided to back the project. This film will showcase Akshay as a warrior and also narrate the epic love story of Prithviraj and Sanyukta.”

Meanwhile, Akshay is currently working on the project titled Gold. The movie is a biopic based on the life of hockey player Balbir Singh Sr, who was on the team that won the first Olympic medal for India as a free nation in 1948.

Gold also features Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh, Nikita Dutta and Sunny Kaushal in key roles. Directed by Reema Kagti, it is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akthar's Excel Entertainment.
