Latest national sensation Priya Prakash Varrier has been accused of hurting Muslim sentiments by winking in the viral video. Hyderabad’s Falaknuma police station has registered a complaint against Malayalam actress and makers of the song, in which she is seen winking at a co-star. The complaint has been filed by youths of Farooq Nagar.
In the video of the song Manikua Malaraya Poovi from the upcoming Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love, the 18-year-old plays a schoolgirl, flirting with a fellow student, raising her eyebrows and winking at him. Following the release of the video on YouTube on February 9, a snippet of this moment spread like wildfire across the internet.

Varrier quickly became the nation’s crush. Her Instagram profile saw a groundswell of new followers: by Tuesday evening, she had 2.3 million.
But the same wink, which made her an instant sensation, has also created problems for her.
