Counting of votes on Tuesday for assembly elections in five states -- Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram -- will seal the political fortunes of thousands of leaders. The outcome of the five states, being seen as a semi-final, is expected to have an impact in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls where Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition will come face to face.

Even as the final result will only be known on Tuesday, exit polls conducted by various media outlets and survey agencies have predicted the Congress party's return in Rajasthan and a clean sweep for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana. The polls have given the Congress an edge over the BJP in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in fiercely-contested battles. The surveys predicted that Mizoram, the only northeast state now with the Congress, may see a hung assembly with the Mizo National Front (MNF) holding the edge.

When will the counting of votes for assembly electons in five states take place?

Counting of votes for all five states -- Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan and Mizoram -- will take place on December 11, Tuesday. Live coverage on counting of votes will begin at 6 am on December 11.
