The Election Commission will today announce the dates for elections to two assemblies - Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
A press conference in this regard will be held at 4 pm today where Chief Election Commissioner will announce list of dates of election, phases of election if any.
Earlier, the Election Commission had indicated that Gujarat may go to polls in December as the term of the current legislative assembly is coming to end in the third week of January while Himachal Pradesh government tenure ends in November.
With the announcement of the election dates, the model code of conduct will immediately come in place, restricting the state and the central government from announcing new schemes and sops.
The Election Commission is likely to hold a two-phase poll in Gujarat and single-phased polling in Himachal.
