PNB fraud: Haven't done anything wrong, truth shall prevail, says Mehul Choksi

"I will face my destiny and I know I have done nothing wrong and ultimately the truth shall prevail," Choksi said in a letter to his employees, released by his lawyer Sanjay Abbot.

Under rigorous scanner of the investigating agencies, Gitanjali Gems promoter Mehul Choksi has written a letter to his employees brushing off allegations leveled against him in the Rs 11,400 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud. Choksi, who is accused of defrauding the bank along with billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi, said that he had done nothing wrong and that the truth shall prevail ultimately.

"I will face my destiny and I know I have done nothing wrong and ultimately the truth shall prevail," Choksi said in a letter to his employees, released by his lawyer Sanjay Abbot.

Talking about the probe by investigative agencies, Choksi said that he is facing a lot of problems due to the manner in which the process is taking place. He added that he is hell bent upon stopping the operations. "I am facing a lot of problems due to the manner in which the multiple investigative agencies/ government agencies have started to create a havoc, hell bent upon stopping the operations," he said.

Earlier, diamantaire Nirav Modi had blamed the PNB for “destroying” his brand and said the bank has shut the doors on his ability to repay the debt. 

Modi, who is facing multi-pronged investigations, wrote a letter to the bank’s management last week, blaming the bank for damaging his business and stating that his dues were much less than what the bank claimed.

The bank lodged two financial fraud complaints of Rs 11,400 crore and Rs 280 crore against Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi and his family members.
