New Delhi: The World Billionaire Census 2013, released by Wealth-X and UBS' Billionaire Census 2013, has crowned New York as the top city for billionaires, with 96 of the world's richest individuals based there.
The country's financial capital Mumbai with 30 billionaires, is among the top 5 'billionaire cities' globally. Others in the top five were Hong Kong, Moscow and London.
The Census also showed that an average billionaire has four homes worth nearly US$20 million each, an art collection worth US$14 million and is most likely to live in Europe.
The census was the first comprehensive worldwide study of billionaires. The global billionaire population reached a record 2,170 this year. The study defined a billionaire as someone with a net worth of US$1 billion or more. It counted individuals, as opposed to families, who have direct control and access to their wealth.
The total billionaire population at 2,170 in 2013 is also 60 percent higher than in 2009, said the report.
