New Delhi, June 10: Software major Microsoft India on Monday announced the appointment of Karan Bajwa as the Managing Director ( MD) of its sales and marketing group (SMSG), replacing incumbent Sanket Akerkar.
"Karan, who is currently the head of the enterprise business in India, will continue to be based out of Gurgaon, and will report to Microsoft India Chairman Bhaskar Pramanik. Karan has been with the company for over five years," Microsoft India said in a release.
As part of this planned transition, Sanket Akerkar, the current Managing Director, is moving back to the US to take up another assignment in the company. He has been with Microsoft Corporation since 2003 and moved to the Indian subsidiary in 2010, it added.
Bajwa starts his new tenure in July 2013 and Akerkar will help with the transition until the end of July.
Besides, Bajwa's appointment, the firm also announced that Microsoft India General Manager (Marketing & Operations) Floris van Heijst will take up a senior appointment within Europe in July 2013.
Floris joined Microsoft in 2005 and has been in India since 2010. His replacement will be announced shortly, it added.
