New Delhi: Honda on Monday unveiled the fourth-generation variant of its City sedan with a fresh crisp design. The new City will be available in India from January 2014.

Honda's new City sedan is bigger than the current model by improving the legroom by 60 mm. At the same time, the height of the sedan has also been increased by 10 mm.

However, the car still measures 4440mm in length and 1695mm in width. The wheelbase has been imrpoved by a significant 50mm taking it to 2600mm. The car certainly offers improvement in terms of rear kneeroom, shoulder room as well as head room

The new City has a design that is evolutionary and resembles with that of the third generation.

On the inside, the company has done a fairly good job in improving the overall look and feeling. There's high gloss finish around the dashboard and the touchscreen interface for the stereo is also commendable. The new car feels lavish than the previous version. Clearly, more equipment on the board gives us the feeling how the company is trying hard to compete with the likes of Hyundai Verna. The new City gets an armrest and air con vents for the rear passengers. There's also a bottle holder on each rear door.

In addition, the new City also comes with keyless push-button start, a sunroof, rear parking camera, electric ORVMs with fold function and conveniently located cup and bottle holders. It also gets ABS and driver and front passenger airbags.

The petrol variant of the new Honda City comes with the existing 1.5 litre iVTEC engine, while the diesel variant would have the recently launched 1.5 iDTEC diesel motor. Both engines promise class leading ARAI fuel economy figures and according to Honda.

The company, which is present in the country through a wholly-owned subsidiary Honda Cars India, currently sells five models in the country, including the compact sedan Amaze and hatchback Brio.

Honda Cars India sold 73,000 units in last fiscal and aims to market 1.20 lakh cars this financial year on the back of new launches.
