New Delhi: Austrian motorcycle maker KTM, where Bajaj Auto holds a 48 per cent stake, has launched two new sportsbikes based on its Duke series, the RC 200 and RC 390 Supersport, at introductory prices of Rs. 1.60 lakh and Rs. 2.05 lakh respectively. The bikes compete against the likes of Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR 250R.
The RC 390 has a 373.2 cc, 4-stroke engine that offers 43.5 bhp of power and 35 Nm of peak torque. The bike offers an incredible 262 bhp/tone power-to-Weight ratio.
The KTM RC 200 comes with a 199.5 cc engine which delivers 25.5 bhp of power and 19.2 Nm of maximum torque, and a Power-to-Weight ratio of 162 bhp/tonne.
The RC range is set apart in terms of sports-bike-like full fairing, twin headlamps, new fuel tank and tail section, fairing integrated underbelly exhaust and mirror mounted turn indicators.
The instrument panel is borrowed from the Dukes and is quite comprehensive as far as information provided to the rider is concerned.
ABS is standard on the KTM RC390 while it is not available with the RC200. KTM says that the RC twins have been inspired by its RC8 and Moto 3 machines.
The colour option for the RC200 is all-black and for the 390 it is black and white. KTM has given the RC390 Metzeler tyres and the RC200, MRF.
The bikes competes against the likes of the Honda CBR150R, Yamaha R15, Honda CBR250R, Hyosung GT250R, Suzuki Inazuma as well as the Ninja 300.
