New Delhi: With a view to optimise searches on popular Apple gadgets, Google is reportedly developing a keyboard for iPhones and iPads, a report by The Verge said.

The Mountain View Company has included its famous search engine to this new keyboard, the report said, adding that the keyboard has been under development for several months.

The design of the Google keyboard for iOS will be different from the Android keyboard, even though some major features such as gesture-based typing will be there in the product. Also, there will be dedicated buttons for pictures and GIFs search on the keyboard.

Even after adding support for third-party keyboards, a lot of companies such as Swiftkey and Flesky have made their keyboards for iOS but none of them have been able to match the quality on Android.

According to the report, Google is planning to make users search more on their phones as it is their core business. A study says that 50 per cent of mobile users perform zero searches every day compared to an average of 1.23 searches on desktop.

If this keyboard will be added, 64 apps by Google will be made for iOS, which will include Google search, maps, YouTube, Gmail and Chrome.

Apple debuted its first app on Android in the form of Apple Music.

Recently, Apple has launched their new 4-inch iPhone SE, which will be available in India from 8 April at a starting price of Rs. 39,000.
