Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the last budget of the NDA government ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said five years of incompetence and arrogance has destroyed the lives of the farmers.

Gandhi was seen tight-lipped in the Parliament as treasury benches cheered on major announcements in the interim budget today.

"Dear NoMo, 5 years of your incompetence and arrogance has destroyed the lives of our farmers," Gandhi said in his tweet with the hashtag #AakhriJumlaBudget.

"Giving them Rs. 17 a day is an insult to everything they stand and work for," he added.

Presenting the Interim Budget, Goyal sought to address some of the distress that the farm sector has been facing. He said the scheme will be "fully funded by the central government".
