Cordoba, Spain, Sept 14: Rafael Nadal is tired but ready to play for Spain in Friday's opening singles matches against France in the Davis Cup semifinals.

The U.S. Open runner-up rushed back to his home country after losing his sixth straight final to Novak Djokovic on Sunday.

“The truth is that I am not worn down,” Nadal said Wednesday. “I played a little over four hours in the U.S. Open final and traveled right after various days of competing at the highest level, so obviously I am tired. But I am not worn down, luckily.”

Spain captain Albert Costa, however, is playing coy about when the French Open champion will play.

“We are going to see over the next two days how he is,” Costa said. “Of course, if Rafa is well, he'll play.”

Spain is looking to rebound from its 5-0 loss to France in last year's quarterfinals.

The best-of-five series ends Sunday and will be played on clay in the Los Califas bull ring. AP
