French Open organizers say Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the clay-court Grand Slam tournament.

The reason for the Australian player's withdrawal was not immediately clear.

Last week, the 36th-ranked Kyrgios defaulted and was fined during his second-round match at the Italian Open after an outburst of rage.

The withdrawal came only days after Kyrgios posted a video online in which he said the French Open "sucks" when compared to Wimbledon, where he trained recently.

Earlier, the draw for the French Open was announced, where Kyrgios was drawn with British no.2 Cameron Norrie. However, as Kyrgios has now pulled out of the tournament, Norrie will play against a lucky loser qualifier.

Rafael Nadal looks to be the favourite for the Roland Garros title after he made a solid comeback in the Italian Open, beating Novak Djokovic in the final.

Roger Federer will be participating in his first French Open tournament in three years, and is drawn with Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego in the first round. Both Nadal and Federer are in the same half of the draw. Djokovic, meanwhile, will face Poland's Hubert Hurkacz.
