Seeking their first Test victory in India, Sri Lankan team, lead by Kumar Sangakkara, arrived in the wee hours of Sunday in Mumbai at 2.30 am. The tourists begin their campaign with a three-day match against Board President's XI.

The first side game, which is scheduled between November 11 and 13, will be held at the Mumbai Cricket Association's cricket academy at Bandra Kurla Complex.

The Lankan team will then travel to Ahmedabad where they will play the first of the three-Test series against India, starting from November 16. The next two will be held at Kanpur (Nov 24-28) and Mumbai (Dec 2-6).

So far, both the teams have been involved in 29 Test matches, with hosts India winning 11 of the encounters, while the Lankans have won only five but none in India. The rest of the 13 matches have ended in a draw.

Sri Lanka have played 14 Test matches in India but are yet to win. In 2005-06, when the Lankans last toured India, they were comprehensively beaten 2-0 in the three-Test series.

After the Test series, the tourists are scheduled to play two Twenty20 Internationals — Nagpur (Dec 9) and Mohali (Dec 12) — and five One-dayers at Rajkot (Dec 15), Visakhapatnam (Dec 18), Cuttack (Dec 21), Kolkata (Dec 24) and Delhi (Dec 27). Except for the Rajkot ODI, the rest of the games are day-night affairs.
