Know the cricketers who won top ICC awards in 2013

New Delhi: 2013 has been a fantastic cricketing year which saw interesting and electrifying matches between top cricket playing nations. Some teams claimed top positions while some upset their fans. On the other hand, players from different teams displayed top form in the matches while the others struggled to get place in their team because of poor form.The International Cricket Council has recently awarded top awards to cricketers and persons related with the game at their headquarters in Dubai.Here is the list of cricketers who won top ICC awards for 2013: 1) ICC Cricketer of the Year (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy) – Michael Clarke (Australia) for his extremely awesome performances in all formats of the game.2) ICC Test Cricketer of the Year – Michael Clarke (Australia), clocked up 1559 runs at an average of 70.86. 3) ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year – Suzie Bates (New Zealand), Suzie Bates averaged 67.83 in seven innings for New Zealand at the women's World Cup, earning player of the tournament honours. 4) ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year – Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka), he served his team with both the bat and his wicket keeping skill.On 26 December 2012 he reached 10000 test match runs in 195 innings becoming the joint fastest to get there, the same number it took Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar to reach the same figure and for this he was given ICC ODI criketer of the year award. 5) ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year – Cheteshwar Pujara (India), who became one of the fastest batsman to reach 1000 runs in Test cricket in just 11 matches and his 18th Test Innings6) ICC Associate and Affiliate Cricketer of the Year – Kevin O'Brien (Ireland), he scored an unbeaten 84 in 47 balls against Pakistan which helped the Ireland to tie the match. Ireland required 15 runs in the last over to win the match, O'Brien hit last ball of Saeed Ajmal to boundary to pull out a thrilling 'tie' for the Irish team. 7) ICC Twenty20 International Performance of the Year – Umar Gul (Pakistan), whose five for six against South Africa won him the ICC T20I Performance of the Year award8) ICC T20I Women's Cricketer of the Year – Sarah Taylor (England), Sarah took 8 catches and done 14 stumping in T20s and also averaged 24.47 in the format.9) ICC Spirit of Cricket Award – Mahela Jayawardena (Sri Lanka), won his second ICC Spirit of Cricket award, this time for walking without waiting for an umpire's decision when batting on 91 against New Zealand in Galle in November 2012.10) ICC Umpire of the Year (winning the David Shepherd Trophy) – Richard Kettleborough recieved the honour for his accurate and honest umpiring in the matches. 11) LG People's Choice – MS Dhoni, choosen as per people's votes. In 2013, under his captaincy, India became the first team in more than 40 years to whitewash Australia in a Test series. Dhoni became the first captain to win all the ICC trophies, he achieved this feat when India defeated England in champions trophy in England on June 2013
