When asked about the mysterious delivery Nathan Lyon has said “"I'm trying to bowl a back-spinner at the moment, which is simply ... my grip is similar (to my off-spinner), but I push the ball back into my hand (and) my thumb comes on the ball," he said as part of his off-spinning.

"Instead of going over the top of the ball (with my wrist action), I'm coming down the back of the ball, which really releases the ball ... so it's spinning backwards and hopefully hitting the pitch and going the other way."


Nathan Lyon further said that he his not going to use the delivery more frequently and would use it as a weapon to create doubts in the mind of the batsman . "It's not a ball that you're going to see a lot," he said.Jeff has barely been sighted since his spectacular debut in Brisbane against South Africa in 2012, when it trapped Proteas batsman Jacques Rudolph leg-before wicket.

However, this time the 26-year-old made it clear that is not his own version of the carrom ball, reports confirm. It can be remembered that he claimed to be practising an Australian version of the ‘carrom ball‘ in June.
