Toronto, Jun 30: Former West Indies star Gus Logie has signed on for a second stint as Canada cricket coach.

The native of Trinidad and Tobago coached Canada at the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, where the team humbled Bangladesh in its first one-dayer in 24 years.

Logie played 52 tests and 158 one-day internationals for West Indies in the 1980s.

"We have huge confidence in Gus and his coaching capabilities," Vimal Hardat, Cricket Canada vice-president and high performance manager, said in a statement.

"He comes in with great knowledge and we will give him time to settle in with his ideas to help us achieve the target of being a leading associate country."

Since his first stint at Canada's helm, Logie has held coaching positions with West Indies, Bermuda and Jamaica.

Logie will lead Canada in the Intercontinental Cup and World Cricket League in Scotland in July.
